Code de la propriété intellectuelle (French intellectual property act), article L112-3: "Authors of translations, adaptations, transformations or otherwise rearrangements of intellectual works benefit from the protection herein enshrined [...]".

For the non exhaustive list of what constitutes intellectual work per French law, see article L112-2.

Sample #2 (French translation, from English): Répartition de la diversité génétique humaine selon Lewontin : cadre théorique et impact

For humanity's sake, please do try not to say "race" anymore, but rather "so-called race". Did you know that a similar wording ("prétendue race") is used in the French Penal Code, for example in article 225-1, which defines the various types of discriminations?

Wording "so-called race" is also used, albeit not systematically, on www.racepowerofanillusion.org, a great resource for English speakers.

Get in touch

Please send me your files through email for analysis and I will get back to you with a quote ASAP. Please keep in mind that I am located in France and available Monday to Friday, 8am-noon and 2pm-6pm, Paris time.

For contents of a general nature or pertaining to my specialisms as described above, I provide you with, depending on your specific needs:

  • French translation (for France and/or Belgium)
    from English, Spanish and Dutch;
  • review of such translations;
  • glossary building;
  • French subtitling
    (only for English content);
  • review of documents drafted in French
    (manuscripts, theses, research articles, etc.).

File formats and software:

  • Scanned documents
  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • PDF, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop
  • HTML
  • Subtitling: SRT format
  • CAT tool : SDL Trados Studio 2022

Please note that I do not work on content which is already segmented (and/or, as the case may be, discontinuous) unless I am provided with (access to) original content in its final format/layout (UI, online training, etc.).

Being able to refer to original content is of course essential in order to produce a naturally flowing translation, especially when the chosen CAT tool modifies the logical sequence of the text, as well as every time a discontinuity occurs.
